Can I have two health policies?

Short answer: yes. Here's how two policies work together and when it's smart.

How claims work with two policies

You can hold more than one health policy — for example, your employer's plan plus a personal one. At claim time you can use one policy, and if the bill exceeds its cover, claim the balance from the second. You can never claim more than your actual expenses.

When two policies make sense

A common, sensible combo is corporate cover (which ends if you leave the job) plus a personal policy you control for life. Some people also add a top-up for high cover at low cost.
